Your icons are some of my favorites as a whole, but the one thing I've noticed is that with the... lmao I'm not sure what to call it, but with the coloring where you add the highlighting dot! That spot can sometimes really wash out that area and make some detail hard to see. This is especially the case with thin lines, like in Nunally's icon, and makes it hard to see her eyes/nose/mouth. That coloring detail is kind of a ymmv style, but I'd suggest maybe lowering the opacity in some cases, since that will preserve the pop, but make the facial detail not disappear.

Like for another example, I think it works really well with these icons:

But for these, it muddies the image:

But that said, I think you do a fantastic job with coloring as a whole! Icons like this one are super beautiful.

Sometimes your icons come out kind of washed out, with the linework being pale enough that it makes the image indistinct and hard to see. Going through your last couple of icon posts for examples:

Not as noticeable as some of the other ones, but I feel like it could have stood to be a bit darker.
From the same post, I can't see dat expression nearly as well as I would like.
These Ukitake ones are all good examples too. For these, I could accept some level of...wispy-ness, I guess, as matching the style of the original art, but they super bleached out (haha) to me.

You use GIMP, right? I'm unfamiliar with its interface, so I'm not sure if I can give you exact suggestions for improving that. In the version of Photoshop I use, though, there's a function ("variations") that lets you make shadows/midtones/highlights lighter and darker, together and separately. Those icons all look like they could benefit from bumping the midtones down a level or two, so if there's a similar function in the program you're using, I'd recommend doing that. Depending on the image (it works better with some than others), you could also duplicate the base image and set it to multiply, reducing the opacity as needed.

I mostly make these for RP reasons, but I'd love to hear some feed back?

i'm very charmed by your icons, and i think the fact you make them for rp is an asset because you're not... trying too hard? the editing/colouring is very minimalistic and doesn't come across as self-indulgent.

one thing i think you could work on is sharpening; sometimes i feel like your icons are a bit too sharpened! that's not always the case, but i'd be on the lookout for that when editing.

you are one of my favorite icon makers! i love your crops and choice of images the best. i don't have much to say in terms of improvement, just that i like how you don't sharpen your icons too noticeably, because personally when an icon isn't colored as much, sharpening takes away from the quality.

..in other words it fits your style lmfao.

i know i change styles a lot, so i've used two icons for each of my favorite styles (5 different total). it would mean a lot if you could tell me my best style, and any other relevant concrit. thank you!

A lot of your stuff is way oversatuated. Bright is a lot of fun when done right but sometimes you take it to eye-searing levels which washes out a lot of the details of the original art.

From what I've seen of your icons, I love love your coloring, especially your Sucker Punch ones. Just the right amount of colors in them and they don't look too washed out as well. :)

I have a thing where I make a lot of variations though I probably have stopped doing that... And my coloring/cropping/composition tends to be all over the place as I like to do weird things/be experimental, whatever.
